Shawn P. Kostek

Shawn P. Kostek, 53, of North Vernon, passed away at 4:20 a.m. on April 20, 2024, at his residence.

Born February 8, 1971, in Cape May County, New Jersey, he was the son of William and Teresa (Sweeney) Kostek. He married Kim Smith on May 27, 2022, in North Vernon; she survives.

Shawn was a Federal Government employee for 16 years and worked electrical maintenance for Meese in Madison. He was an avid woodworker and enjoyed making flag cases, working on small engines, playing golf and was a number one fan of AC/DC.

Surviving with his wife, Kim Kostek; are his daughters, Lydia Roberts, Andrea L. Kostek, Shelby M. Kostek, and Jessica A. Kostek; stepdaughters, Rebecca (Michael) Murphy and Sarah (Chad) Thomas; brother, William Kostek; sister, Susan Walker; grandchildren, Jesse Thomas, Jaxxon Thomas, Sidnee Thomas, Macie Faye Mullikin, Eleanor May Bustle and Carson Roberts; friend and neighbor, Jeff Engle; and best friend “brother from another mother”, Billy Wingate.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and stepson, Andrew Branam.

A funeral service for Shawn will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon. The visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorials may be made through the funeral home to the Wounded Warrior Project for Jennings County.
